What is a testicular biopsy?

The tissue is examined under a microscope to evaluate sperm production and help diagnose the cause of male infertility, particularly in men with no sperm in their semen (azoospermia).
Who should undergo a testicular biopsy?
A testicular biopsy is generally recommended for men with azoospermia or when other fertility tests have not identified the cause of infertility. It helps determine whether the testicles are producing sperm and whether sperm can be retrieved for assisted reproductive treatments such as ICSI.
Is a testicular biopsy painful?
